For non-Unicode text, it must be either of the locale language, or its language must be explicitly specified. The ways to do it depend on how the text is represented internally in TRichView (as Unicode or as ANSI). Can you describe more detailed what do you want to implement? And I do not understand completely all what you described. What's the language of the source file? Was the saved text file correct (you said that you was able to read it)? If you loaded non-Unicode text file and then saved non-Unicode text file, they should be identical > I have a non unicode text file.
