How to detect document type

I am loading a trichviewedit from a memory stream using LoadRVFFromStream.

The memory stream in turn comes from a database. The database data may be

in RV format or plain text.

If the data is in RV format it will load fine, but if the data is in plain

text, nothing is displayed.

The trichviewDBedit when connected directly to the database field does not

exhibit this problem but essentially it is doing the same thing as

LoadRVFFromStream I would imagine. (I need to use trichviewedit)

Does anybody know how trichviewDBedit is able to do this but trichviewedit

is not?
