ok, it seems that MaxTextWidth is the one I need.

Do you have any guidelines about what this should be set to, to be

equivalent to A4 and to US Letter sizes?

Also, I notice that when I resize the screen to make it smaller than this

width, it shrinks rather than putting in a horizontal scroll bar.

Is there an option so that it either shrinks like this, or it stays the same

layout with a horizontal scroll bar and just shows part of the document

depending on the controls screen estate?

You say

Horizontal scrollbar appears automatically when it is needed.

You can hide it with HScrollVisible property.

But this property is set and I never see a horizontal scroll bar.
